Ted Knight’s Edifier
Sometimes I think that ALL of the bad automobile drivers in the world live in Conway, Arkansas and they know when I am going to be on the streets and every one of them gets out there at the same time just to give me problems. Then, when I get to the market every rude person in town has come to shop and they get in my parking place, stop their carts in the aisle so that I cannot get by, and push ahead of me in the checkout lane. Now, how should I respond to all of this? It is quite a challenge.
The old devil in me says that I should respond with the same kind of treatment that they have shown. But, the Christian in me remembers ROM. 12:18 where the apostle Paul said, “If it is possible, as much as depends upon you live peaceably with all men.” We as Christians have a higher calling and should rise up to a higher standard when we are challenged by the anger and rudeness of others. When we show the spirit of Christ and respond to the actions around us with calm and softness it can have a great effect on the lives of others. I cannot control others, but I can control my response to them. This is one of my greatest challenges and requires that I think carefully about letting my light shine before others so that they might glorify my Father in heaven.
What about you? Are you striving to have peace with all men even when it is difficult for you to do it? Are you making the extra effort that is required to reflect the likeness of Jesus? Let’s all seek more diligently to achieve and spread peace to all men and our world will be a better world.
I hope that you are about recovered from the snow, ice, and very, very cold weather. We miss all of you very much.
With Much Love,
Ted & Barbara
