BibleTalk: Condemned to Hell?
There are still many people, even among those who call themselves Christian, that do not believe that a loving God (John 3:16, 1 John 4:16) would condemn a person to hell. The Bible tells us, in a manner of speaking, it is true.
Look at the following scriptures concerning who will be in hell:
Thess. 1:7-8 “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Matthew 5:22 “…but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”
Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone.”
It should be evident to all that when God created the place of punishment He also decided who would end up in that place called hell. So, God does not condemn anyone, we condemn ourselves. God has told us in advance what to do to avoid the “lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15). If you do not want to end up in the “fire that is not quenched” (Mark 9:47-48) then avoid doing those things that will put your there.
