Jephtha’s Vow
In a few weeks, I will be teaching from a brotherhood publication a lesson that will mention Jephtha’s vow. The author of this lesson states that Jephtha offered his daughter as a burnt offering because of his vow. My research for many years has led me to believe otherwise.
The article by Dave Miller at this website -

Expresses a more realistic view, to me.
I would be interested in your collective thoughts.
Thank you,

Charles, Bro. Wayne Jackson has some pretty good suggestion on the proper interpretation of this story.

One of the best commentaries I have ever found on this is James Jordan’s Judges: God’s war Against Humanism, Geneva Ministries,1985. He I believe takes the proper stance in that Jeptha did not sacrifice his daughter. She became a servant at the gate of the tabernacle. Mark McWhorter
