    My Favorite Prophet

One of my favorite prophets is Micaiah. His response to the messenger of the wicked king Ahab is classic. It represents how every spokesman for God should feel about proclaiming God’s message. “”As the LORD lives, what the LORD says to me, that I shall speak.” (1 Kings 22:14) May God help those of us who preach and teach His Word be this convicted.

WHAT I DON’T WANT TO DO WITHOUT

This morning I took my Airbook to the Apple store to be sent off for repairs.  The hinge on the back is coming apart. They agreed to repair it at no charge and told me it would likely be delivered to my house by Friday (possibly Thursday, and even a chance for Wednesday.)  I told the very nice young lady at the Genius Bar that I wasn’t sure I could do without it that long. She just smiled and said, ‘I bet you’ll be just fine.”  On a side note one of the good things about this is it forced me to back everything up (you know, just in case something goes awry!!)

Tonight I had the privilege of listening to a brother who is 92 years of age deliver the devotion at our midweek Bible study. He spoke with passion about the need for all Christians to set the right example. He told a very moving story about a young man who entered the service and was away from home for the first time. The young man had grown up reading his Bible each night and now he wrestled with the prospect of reading his Bible away from home. The first night in the barracks he thought about getting away from everyone to read for fear that the older boys might give him a hard time. He decided that he would not be embarrassed by the fact that he was a Christian and he boldly took out his Bible to read. The first night a few comments were made and the other guys were loud and boisterous while the young man read his Bible. The next night when he got out his Bible, twelve other men took out their Bibles to read and everyone was quiet. As time went by, the other men in the barracks came to this young man with their problems, cares, and concerns. His boldness and example had won them over. May God help all of us to be so bold that we are never afraid to let the world around us know that we belong to Jesus.

What an amazing story! Sometimes we forget how “little things” can have such a significant impact on others. Thanks for sharing!

THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY IS TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. SINCE ALL COC ELDERS ARE TOO SCARED TO KNOCK ON DOORS PREACHING SALVATION, AND STREET PREACHING. PAUL PREACHED ON THE STREETS, HE WENT FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. THE COC’S NEVER DO THIS, THAT IS WHY NO COC WAS EVER CALLED TO PREACH.

My father recently shared the following quote with me.

" Greatness is a common thing, found in common people from common places, who simply do uncommon things."
